From the cubicle to coaching to commerce, with plenty of failures in between
Hey, welcome to my profile. Here’s a little about me.
I’m Utkarsh. I love to learn and I love to do more than I talk.
I’ve been a 9–5er cubicle zombie and left it to follow my dream of being a full-time football coach in the US.
But here’s the problem with following your passion:
Your dream can become a nightmare when there’s someone telling you where and when you need to be, who you need to work with, how long you need to work for, oh and with a cap on your income.
So what I’ve come to realize is that as well as learning and doing…
I love freedom and will suffer a lot to get it.
So then I went off on an entrepreneurial journey. One I’m still on. Since 2016…
- I’ve sold other people’s products online
- I’ve built and sold my own products online
- I’ve acquired a business with no money out of pocket
- I’ve managed other people’s properties
- I’ve built multiple websites & funnels
- I’ve written webinars to sell other people’s expertise
I’ve managed to now start to settle away from what doesn’t work for me and find my lane, doing more of what does (writing online & consulting with entrepreneurs).
But this has only come after having taken a meandering route of experimentation. One in which I took a lot of messy action and where I also racked up plenty of failures along the way.
And this ‘dive right in’ approach to life has been perhaps the most significant thing that has shaped my personality and outlook on life.
But now, a little greyer, I’ve refined my approach to be more efficient.
Learn, Do, Teach
Get curious. Read, ask, listen, learn. But then go out and run a small experiment where risk is negated. And most importantly of all, report the lessons back to the tribe.
That’s what I aim to do here on Medium. If you too like living life through experiences over theories then you’ll enjoy my writing.

- I’m a family person and homebody
- I love the gym, both lifting & running
- I’ve got a masters degree I never used. Oh well
- I love working on projects with people rather than solo
- I still love to coach. Less so football now but more entrepreneurs
